Photo description: Calling in spring–my favourite ancient folk tradition from Ukraine. Women in the villages were sent to the highest mountains to plead with the gods through loud songs to bring back spring and light and the bounty of growth!
What’s your sign?
Libra, Cancer moon and rising.
What do you always have in your bag/purse?
Water bottle, planner (paper!), snacks, phone, wallet, handmade cream/lip balm, book.
When you were 6 what did you want to be when you grew up?
I don’t know if I can remember back to 6 but I think I thought I’d end up a dancer for many years in my childhood.
Who do you call when you’re sad?
I tend to try and support myself first–make or go out for a nice meal, have a bath, watch a sad movie and cry, meditate, etc. But then if that doesn’t feel great I have a few beautiful friends that have stuck by me and supported me through so, so, so much that I can count on to hear me out, remind me I’m allowed to be sad, and tell me they love me. I am so, so, so lucky!!
What was your favourite thing about your yoga training?
How I discovered that all the things that are important to me–self study, movement, singing, nature, creativity, community–were all a part of this centuries old practice that I could now use as a lens for my life.
What’s your favourite thing about Yoga Village?
The vibe and the space. Very homey, cosy, and a little bit strange. Just like me ☺
What do you love most about yourself?
My dedication to self-care and supporting others in that journey. I guess it makes sense that I’m a yoga teacher now doesn’t it… It’s also often commented how grounded I am and I think that feels pretty huge too.
What would constitute a perfect day for you?
A quiet leisurely morning with coffee/tea and breakfast on the porch, some reading or nerdy body/mind research in the fresh air, a yoga class or meditation, and then cooking a lovely meal with a friend or three with chatting till it’s time for bed ☺
What do you value most in a friendship?
Self awareness and self study.

Dishonesty and manipulation

Wherever, if I’m in touch with my heart and the present moment
Cedar trees ☺
Any sort of lunge–between all the sitting and cycling I do it’s so necessary for me to stretch out my hip flexors daily!
